University is a stressful time, even though I have finished my first year I still have exams, which are extremely stressful and this month, in general, can be too much for students. With all this in mind, we can forget how to look after our self and it's so important to remember that we should dedicate more time and relax. We all have our own way to wind down and it's vital that you do so as stressing will make your exam season worse. To be able to achieve good results it is important to put your mental health first, so I have come up with a few tips on how to balance everything and stay happy.
Self-care tips
- Take a relaxing bath and switch off for a while. Revising all day can take its toll, you need to have a rest and take a deep breath.
- Take some time to pamper yourself and look after yourself, whether that be to put on a facemask, paint your nails or just catch up on your sleep because us students are bad for pulling all-nighters and it really isn't healthy.
- Go outside - Take in some fresh air, go to a local park and just relax. There is nothing worse than being cooped up in your bedroom all day.
- Exercise - Believe it or not, exercise makes you happy it releases endorphins; a happy mind and body is the key to success after all.
- Watch a movie and switch off - Sometimes, and this is me included we often don't switch off from life and take a deep breath from it all especially in the exam season when worry is on everyone's mind. Try not to fret it will only make you feel ill, instead reward yourself by taking a break and watching a film or your favourite TV show on Netflix.
I wish you all the best of luck with your exams. My main tip would be to give it 100% in the exam and revision and that's all that is expected of you. I also recommend to draw up a well-organised revision plan so you can spend each day wisely and avoid the night before stress, as revising the night before is a recipe for disaster. Get some sleep beforehand and wake up refreshed and ready for the exam, have a healthy breakfast and take some water into the exam so you're hydrated.
